This extremely informative DVD is a "must see" for anyone contemplating a career as an actor or on-camera performer. The point is immediately pressed home that only hard work and the right skill will lead to success. First, one must have solid acting training-so we visit a leading Chicago acting school to find out what classes to take, what to expect and the cost involved. The filmmakers take the opportunity to point out many scams that may be encountered in trying to get started. Once you have honed your acting chops, you need to learn how to market yourself to get those paying jobs. This involves creating a resume and getting a headshot and composite cards. Now we are off the renowned professional photographer, SOCKO, who walks us through the ups and downs in this area. For those interested in a voice career, a visit to Sherri Berger, owner of a leading voiceover studio, is next to learn the do's and don'ts of producing a voiceover demo. Finally, there is a detailed segment on finding an agent, doing mass mailings, the hiring process, and the pros and cons of performing in both union and non-union work. Just so you don't forget, there is a final section again detailing the SCAMS & PITFALLS to avoid. It's a cutthroat business! This is an outstanding choice of anyone interested in a show business career. Nothing is left out and no false expectations are established.
